World Environment Day
Monday 5th June is World Environment Day. Celebrated in over 100 countries, it is the United Nations’ most significant day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. It is a day that aims to encourage people to get involved, do something to take care of the Earth and become an advocate for change.
Here at The Thinktree, we like to have fun but also take the important stuff, like the environment very seriously. We are conscious of our footprint and are taking steps to minimise our impact. Being a boutique studio enables us to print more sustainably with small print runs that create less waste. We use local suppliers wherever possible, meaning everything is printed in Australia and even our envelopes are manufactured here by a small family-owned business!
In addition to this, the paper used to produce all of our products has a large range of environmental credentials including the following:
• Made from 100% post-consumer waste recycled fibre, meaning it is produced completely from material that has previously been used by consumers.
• FSC certification. Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established to promote the responsible management of forests throughout the world.
• Manufactured carbon neutral. The mill uses 86% renewable energy, resulting in very low emissions. The remaining unavoidable emissions are compensated for by supporting a certified emission reduction scheme.
• Process Chlorine Free (PCF) meaning the paper fibres must be bleached without the use of chlorine or chlorine compounds.
So there you have it, just a few of the ways we’re supporting the environment and striving to maintain sustainable production methods.
